黑暗與光明常常並存而行，同為一體，毀了黑暗，光明也受了傷。
•故事內容：
從前有個禿頭男子在夏日工作完畢後，坐下來休息（There was once a Bald Man who sat down after work on a hot summer's day），一隻蒼蠅飛過來（A Fly came up），不斷地在他的頭頂嗡嗡徘徊 （and kept buzzing about his bald pate），三不五時叮咬他（and stinging him from time to time）。這位仁兄想要趕走這隻蒼蠅 （The Man aimed a blow at his little enemy,），但手掌卻打到自己的頭 （but his palm came on his head instead）。蒼蠅不斷地騷擾他（again the Fly tormented him），但這次他變聰明了，他說 （but this time the Man was wiser and said）：「如果你在意卑鄙的敵人，只會對自己有害 （"You will only injure yourself if you take notice of despicable enemies."）。」
