 Dialogue A
Today is the first day of Howard's new job. He is in charge of collecting surveys in front of a department store.
Howard:Hello. Do you have a minute to spare?
Woman 1:I'm sorry. No.
Howard:OK. Excuse me, could I interest you in filling out a survey?
Woman 2:Don't you know I'm on my lunch break?
Howard:But this will only take a minute.
Woman 2:I'm on a tight schedule.
Howard:All right. Hi, today is my first day and I was wondering…
Woman 3:I'm waiting for my boyfriend. Don't bother me.
今天是霍華開始新工作的第一天。他負責在百貨公司前面收集問卷調查表。
霍 華：您好。您能撥出一點時間嗎？
女子一：對不起。我沒空。
霍 華：好吧。不好意思，我能請您幫我填問卷嗎？
女子二：你不知道我正在午休嗎？
霍 華：但這只會花您一點時間而已。
女子二：我的行程很趕。
霍 華：沒關係。您好，今天是我第一天上班，不知道……
女子三：我在等我的男朋友。別煩我。
 Dialogue B
Howard talks to Ariel, another survey collector.
Howard:Ariel, how many surveys have you gotten filled out today?
Ariel:Thirty. It's been a rewarding day.
Howard:How did you get so many? I've been out here for hours and have only gotten one.
Ariel:My first day was the hardest, too. I was tired of being rejected and wanted to quit. Then, I talked to Melissa.
Howard:Who's Melissa?
Ariel:She is the queen of surveys. She just stands there and people ask for surveys to fill out.
Howard:Really? I must go talk to her.
霍華跟另一位收集問卷的人員艾莉兒說話。
霍 華：艾莉兒，妳今天讓人填了幾份問卷？
艾莉兒：三十份。今天收穫還不錯。
霍 華：妳怎麼能得到那麼多？我已經在外面好幾個小時，卻只得到一份。
艾莉兒：我第一天上班也是最辛苦的。我被拒絕到煩，根本想要辭職。然後我就去找梅麗莎談。
霍 華：梅麗莎是誰？
艾莉兒：她是問卷女王。她只是站那裡，人們就會找她要問卷來寫。
霍 華：真的嗎？我一定要找她談談。 |
