【Dialogue 1】 Lounging about the Department Store(逛百貨公司) Mike and Vicky are a good couple. Lounging about a shopping mall is their usual choice in dating. Mike:Wow! This store is so big! Somebody could get lost in here. Vicky:That's why they call it MegaMall! What do you want to see first? Mike:I'm kind of hungry. Could we go to the Food Court? Vicky:Ok, then, could we go play video games in the Arcade? Mike:Yeah, that sounds cool! I didn't know you liked video games. Vicky:You never asked me. Anyways, later, could we see a movie at the Cineplex? Mike:Yeah, sure. I heard there's a good horror movie playing… Somebody could get lost in here.(這地方會讓人迷路的。) 因此,通常我們不用 "We could get lost in here."。
進階對話【Dialogue 2】 A Hang Gliding Trip(滑翔翼之旅) Vicky and Mike would like to throw away their boring life. So this day, they went to Yehliu to go hang gliding. Vicky:Are you sure you want to do this? It's not too late to turn back. Mike:Are you serious!? We drove all the way here to Yehliu to go hang gliding and now you're going to chicken out? Anyways, I already paid the deposit. Vicky:Well, if we can't get our money back, I better grin and bear it. Mike:Don't be so scared Vicky. I think hang-gliding is pretty safe, as long as you get good instruction by a certified operation that is licensed, bonded and insured. Vicky:So how about this school? Are they certified, licensed, bonded or insured? Mike:I have no idea but my friend told me it was a good place to go. 。 Vicky:Mike, you're not inspiring me with a lot of confidence. Mike:Don't worry, what's the worst that could happen? Vicky:I could spiral out of control, go into a freefall and crash into the ocean. Mike:Yeah, I guess that's true. So do you want to turn back? Vicky:Yes, that's what I've been saying all along. If people were meant to fly then God would have given them wings. Mike:Ok, let's go back home. I wouldn't want to be a Daedalus to your Icarus. 1. It's not too late to turn back.(現在要回頭還不會太晚。) 說明:"too... to" 是「太... Done is done. You can't turn back. You're going to chicken out? They thought I was chicken because I refused to to say "I love you" to her. 3. If we can't get our money back, I better grin and bear it. | |
