【Dialogue 1】 Listening to a rock and roll concert(聽搖滾音樂會) Vicky is really excited to see the Rolling Stones, her favorite band. Mike is not very interested. Vicky:Are you excited, Mike? The rock concert is starting in less than two minutes. Mike:Yeah, I guess. Who's playing again? I forget. Vicky:I told you a million times. The "Rolling Stones" are playing. I really like the lead guitarist. Mike:It's really crowded in here, and really loud. Vicky:Great! They are starting now. Do you want a hot dog or something to drink? Mike:(Silence) Mike:(沒出聲) Vicky:Mike. I asked you a question. Are you falling asleep? Mike:Huh? Oh, sorry. I'm really tired after being at work all day. You go ahead and listen to the songs. Wake me up when the band is finished. Vicky:That's classic. Go ahead and fall asleep. You go ahead and listen to the songs. Wake me up when the band is finished.(你先去聽歌吧。 「叫醒某人」可以用 "to wake sb. up" 來表示。千萬別說成 "Please call me up."
進階對話【Dialogue 2】 Going Bungee Jumping(高空彈跳之旅) Mike and Vicky both decided to go bungee jumping, but Mike's excuses and reluctance to jump cause Vicky to make fun of him. Vicky:I'm so glad we decided to go bungee jumping. I'm feeling particularly adventurous today. Mike:Really? That surprises me. Last time we decided to do something risky like hang gliding, you hesitated. That's why neither of us went through with it. Vicky:Well, there's no way that I'm backing out this time. I'm going to jump with or without you. Mike:Wow. That's great! It's a beautiful spot to jump. This bridge is sturdy enough, and it must be over 30 degrees Celsius out here. Vicky:Yeah, it makes you almost wish that the rope would snap so you can land in the nice cool river below. Mike:That's a crazy thing to say. Plus, the riverbed has more jagged rocks than it does water. Do you really think that there's a chance that the rope will snap? Vicky:No, of course not. It is much more probable that we get into a car crash on the way home. Mike:Let me see the rope. Wow, it is extremely thin! Are you sure this is what all bungee ropes are supposed to look like? Vicky:Yes. The rubber fibers are deceivingly strong. Don't worry. Mike:Maybe you should go first. Then you can tell me how jerky the jump is. Now that I think of it, my back has been bothering me lately. Maybe I should sit this one out. Vicky:You can't back out now! You call yourself the man in this relationship? 1.There's no way that I'm backing out this time.(這次再怎麼樣我也不能退出了。) 說明:"to back out" 是一個「不及物」動詞,表示「退出」;而 "There's no way that..." 是不可能的」,可等於 "It's out of the question that...",這裡的「that 子句」皆屬「名詞子句」,作 way 或 question 的同位語。 2.The rubber fibers are deceivingly strong.(橡膠纖維堅固的讓你看不出來。) 3.You call yourself the man in this relationship?(你不是認為自己在彼此關係中是個男人?). What do you expect from this relationship?(在我們之間你期望得到什麼?) | |
