I can tell from your...that you must ...(從你的 ...,我知道 ...) 例:I can tell from your tan that you must've had a great time there.(從妳的膚色看來,我相信妳一定玩得很開心。) 說明:tell 有「分辨」、「判斷」的意思,在此可以譯為「我可以分辨出╱判斷出 ...」其引申意為「我知道 ...」。另外,"must've" 是口語上非正式的用法,是 "must have" 的縮寫。例:I can tell from your smile that you must be satisfied with their report.(從你臉上的笑容看來,我相信你一定很滿意他們的報告。) 2. I deal in ...(名詞子句)(我從事 ...。) 例:I deal in sports equipment.(我從事運動用品業。) 說明:deal 是「處理」、「分配」的意思,"deal in" 則有「從事某行業」、「做 ... 買賣」的意思,例:Jason deals in cooking utensils.(Jason 從事餐具買賣。) 3. 進階對話【Dialogue 2】 Situation: At the airport.(在機場) Vicky, a sales rep, is waiting to pick up her customer, Michael, a purchasing manager from the US. Vicky:Excuse me. You must be Mr. Becker. My name's Vicky. Nice to meet you. Vicky:不好意思。你是 Becker 先生吧。我的名字是 Vicky,很高興認識你。 Michael:Nice to meet you, too, and please call me Michael. Michael:我也很高興認識妳,請叫我 Michael 就行了。 Vicky:OK. Here's my business card. I'll be taking care of you here in Taipei. So, how was your flight? Vicky:好的。這是我的名片。將負責你在台北的行程。那你這趟旅程還好嗎? Michael:It was fantastic. Thank you. And here's my card. How about / What about ...(... 如何?) 例:What about a cup of coffee?(喝杯咖啡怎麼樣?) 說明:"how about / what about" 用來提供別人建議,後面可以接名詞或是動名詞。如果是建議一起去做件事,也可以用 "Shall we ...?"。例:Shall we go to the movies this evening?(我們今晚去看電影怎樣?) 2. It's my honor to ...(我很榮幸 ...。) 例:It's my honor to be your guest.(成為您的客人是我的榮幸。) 說明:"It's my honor to ..." 是很禮貌客氣的說法,也可以說成 "I'm honored to ...",例:I'm honored to walk you home.(能陪你走回家是我的榮幸。) 3. ... show a full range of ...(呈現完整一系列的 ...。) 例:Can you show me a full range of your products?(你可以替我展示你們一系列的產品嗎?) 說明:"a full range of" 是指「一系列,一整套」,full 也可以用 complete、entire、whole 代替。例:This store has a complete range of gardening tools.
