Joyce is very furious about the rumor in the office. She is angry with Sam as well. Finally, she decides to talk to Sam.
Joyce 對於辦公室裡的謠言很憤怒。她也對 Sam 感到火大。最後，她決定要和 Sam 聊聊。

Joyce：Can I talk to you for a minute, Sam?
Sam，我可以和你談談嗎？

Sam：Sure. What's up, cutie?
當然。怎麼了，小可愛？

Joyce：Well, here's the problem. I know you're a nice person, and you just want to be nice. But to be called as "cutie," "honey," and so on, makes me feel like I'm immature or something.
嗯，問題就出在這兒。我知道你是個好人，而且你只是想表現友善。但是被稱作「小可愛」、「甜心」…等等，讓我覺得我好像不成熟。

Sam：Sorry, I didn't mean to treat you like a little girl.

Joyce：I know. I just want to give everyone an impression that I'm a professional sales representative.

Sam：I got your point.

Joyce：You know what's worse about it? People started some kind of rumor that there's something going around between us.
你知道更糟的是什麼嗎？人們開始製造某種謠言說我們之間有什麼。

Sam：Wow, I didn't know that. I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable. I'll be more cautious about the words I use in the future.
哇。我不知道。如果我讓妳覺得不舒服的話，我向你道歉。我以後在用字上會更小心的。

Joyce：Thanks, Sam. I really appreciate it!

重要字詞講解：
1. furious　(adj.) 狂怒的

　例：Joyce is very furious about the rumor in the office.
　　　（Joyce 對於辦公室裡的謠言很憤怒。）

　例：He was furious at the outrageous joke.
　　　（這個過分的玩笑讓他非常憤怒。）

※ 小叮嚀：
如果要點明「憤怒的對象或原因」，可使用介系詞 at。

2. immature　(adj.) 不成熟的

　例：But to be called as "cutie", "honey", and so on, makes me feel like I'm immature or something.
　　　（但是被稱作「小可愛」、「甜心」... 等等，讓我覺得我好像不成熟。）

　例：It was immature of him to say that.
　　　（他那樣說真是不成熟。）

※ 小叮嚀：
immature 的反義字是 mature（成熟的）。與此正反義字變化規則相同者，尚有irregular（不規則的），與 regular（規則的）。

3. mean to (n.) 打算；意圖

　例：Sorry, I didn't mean to treat you like a little girl　.
　　　（抱歉，我不是故意要把妳當成一個小女孩的。）

　例：Did you mean to go away with my money?
　　　（你本來打算帶著我的錢一起走嗎？）

※ 小叮嚀：
mean 的意思很多，"mean to" 除了「打算；意圖」 之外，還有「指定；預定」的意思，例如 "We are meant to be together." 就是「我們註定要在一起」的意思。

4. sales representative　業務代表

　例：I just want to give everyone an impression that I'm a professional sales representative.
　　　（我只是想給每個人「我是一個專業的業務代表」的印象。）

　例：He was the best sales representative of this company last year.
　　　（他是去年這間公司的最佳業務代表。）

5. cautious　(adj.) 謹慎的

　例：I'll be more cautious about the words I use in the future.
　　　（我以後在用字上會更小心的。）

　例：My mom is always cautious with money.
　　　（我媽媽用錢總是很謹慎。）

※ 小叮嚀：
要表示「小心的」除了用形容詞 cautious 之外，亦可用片語 "with caution" 表示。例：My mom always uses her money with caution.（我的母親總是小心地用錢。）

相關實用句型解析

　1. 生某人的氣。

　　主詞 + be angry with + 某人。

　例：She is angry with Sam as well.
　　（她也對 Sam 感到火大。）

　例：Please don't be angry with me.
　　（請不要生我的氣。）

※ 小叮嚀：
1. 表示「生某人的氣」的句型可使用「主詞 + be angry at / with + 某人」。

　例：She is angry at/ with her brother.（她對她的弟弟感到生氣。）

2. 若要表示「對某事物感到生氣」，則可使用「主詞 + be angry about + 某事/ 物」的句型。

　例：She is angry about his laziness.（她對他的懶散感到憤怒。）
　

　2. 某人決定要做某事。

　　某人 + decide + 不定詞（片語）。

　例：She decides to talk to Sam.
　　（她決定要和 Sam 聊聊。）

　例：Connie decided to meet her old friend.
　　（Connie 決定要與她的老友見面。）

※ 小叮嚀：
這裡的 decide 是及物動詞，後面要搭配子句或不定詞（片語）…等作受詞。一般在 decide 的句子中，常見的子句有 that 子句，或是由 whether/ if 所引導的子句。
