Lisa：Oh, just about Sam and Joyce. We heard that they are seeing each other.

Jennifer：And he calls her "baby" in the office.
而且他在辦公室裡叫她「寶貝」。
Lisa：Yeah, isn't that "interesting?" You know, Sam went out with so many girls before. He even went out with three different girls at the same time. He's a real "lady killer."

Jennifer：But you know what the funniest part is? His girl friend found that he was cheating on her, so she dumped him.

Brian：All right. Joyce complained about this to me a few days ago. She hated the way Sam called her, so she decided to talk to Sam about not doing it ever again. That's why I can assure you that there is no romance in this office.

重要字詞講解：1. lounge (n.) 休息室；茶水間；候機室
例：Brian is making a nice cup of Cappuccino in the lounge.
（Brian 正在茶水間泡一杯好喝的 Cappuccino。）
例：I waited in the lounge for almost three hours due to delays of flights.
（因為班機延誤，我在候機室等了將近三小時。）
※ 小叮嚀：
lounge 可以是旅館飯店的休息室，會客室，也可以是機場的候機室。在本篇對話當中指的是辦公室的茶水間。
2. excitedly (adv.) 激動地
例：He heard Jennifer and Lisa from the marketing department talking excitedly.
（他聽到行銷部的 Jennifer 和 Lisa 興奮地談天。）
例：They were watching the show and discussing excitedly.
（他們正看著節目，興奮地討論著。）
※ 小叮嚀：
excitedly 的形容詞是 excited，形容「人的感覺」為「興奮的，激動的」。
3. catch (v.) 理解；聽清楚
例：He goes near and tries to catch what they're saying.
（他走近並試著聽聽看她們在說什麼。）
例：Can you say the word again? I didn't catchit.
（你可以把那個字再說一遍嗎？我剛才沒聽清楚。）
※ 小叮嚀：
catch 原本是「捕捉」的意思，可以解釋為「理解或聽清楚他人的談話」。
4. see each other 交往
例：We heard that they are seeing each other.
（我們聽說他們兩個在交往。）
例：Meg and Bob have been seeing each other for a year.
（Meg 和 Bob 已經交往一年了。）

"see each other" 多用在口語表達，可以解釋為「約會；交往」。
5. dump (v.) 拋棄
例：His girl friend found that he was cheating on her, so she dumped him.
（他女朋友發現他劈腿，所以就把他甩啦。）
例：He dumped her girlfriend, but he didn't explain his reason.
（他甩了他女友，但他沒解釋原因。）
※ 小叮嚀：
dump 原為「傾倒、拋棄物品」之意，可以當成「主動結束一段關係」的口語表達。

常與 "hear about" 混淆的片語為 "hear from"。兩者除了 hear 後搭配的介系詞不同外，意思也大不相同。"hear bout" 多解釋為「聽說」，而 "hear from" 則有「收到（某人的）來信、電報或消息…等」之意。這兩個片語的共通點是，介系詞後面皆須搭配「受詞」。
