【入門對話 Dialogue 1】The Day before Valentine（情人節前夕）
Sarah and James are schoolmates. They are in the park. It is the day before Valentine's Day.
Sarah 和 James 是同學。他們在公園裡。今天是情人節的前一天。
Sarah：So… Do you have anything special planned for tomorrow?
對了... 你明天有特別計劃任何事嗎？
James：Well… maybe…
喔... 可能會....
Sarah：Don't play coy with me! Everyone knows you like Cindy! Are you going to ask her out tomorrow?
你不要跟我裝傻了！大家都知道你喜歡 Cindy！你明天要約她出來嗎？
James：I want to – but every time I try to talk to her I feel so nervous. She's so beautiful! I feel like a look from her just melts my heart!
我是想 ─ 但每次我試著要和她談話時，我會很緊張。她是那麼美麗！我覺得她只要看我一眼，我的心就酥了。
Sarah：Well, maybe she feels the same about you! You never know until you ask her.
嗯，也許她對你也有同樣的感覺！如果你不問她，怎麼會知道呢？
James：You're right! Tomorrow will be the day I finally act! I'm going to tell her exactly how I feel.
你說得沒錯！明天我一定得行動了！我將確切告訴她我的感覺。
Sarah：Well, that's a good attitude. But you can't just go and blurt out your feelings. Girls expect more than that. It is Valentine's Day after all!
嗯，那是正確的態度。但你不能只是貿然說出你的感覺。女生所期待的不只如此。畢竟這是情人節呀！
James：So what should I do?
那我該怎麼做呢？
Sarah：Be creative! Buy her flowers and candy! Trust me, no girl can say no to that.
有想像力一點！買花和糖果給她！相信我，沒有女孩能對那說不。
"Dialogue 1" 相關實用句型：1. I feel like a look from her just melts my heart!
（我覺得我只要看她一眼，我的心就酥了。）
"feel like" 後面可以接一個省略 that 的名詞子句，表示「某人心中的感受」。
"to melt (away) one's heart" 原指「讓某人的心溶化」，表示「身受感動而毫無招架之力」。
2. You can't just go and blurt out your feelings.
（你不能只是貿然說出你的感覺。）
動詞 blurt 原指「（因緊張或大意而不加思索地）衝口說出」，常與介副詞 out 連用。
例如：She blurted out his name, then gasped as she realized what she'd done.
（她不小心說出他的名字，然後倒抽了一口氣，也了解自己做了什麼。） | |

【進階對話 Dialogue 2】Valentine for Married Couples（老夫老妻的情人節）
Jim and Pam work together. They are discussing Valentine's Day, which is coming next week.
Jim和Pam 是同事。他們正在談論即將於下星期到來的情人節。
Pam：Hey Jim! Are you ready for Valentine's Day?
喂，Jim！你情人節準備好了嗎？
Jim：Yeah, I got my wife this nice card.
是呀，我幫老婆準備了這張不錯的卡片。
Pam：Just a card? Are you kidding? That looks to me like a ticket for a night sleeping by yourself on the couch!
只是一張卡片？你在開玩笑吧？我認為那像是讓你自己一整晚睡沙發的一張票！
Jim：What do you mean? It's not like Valentine's Day is some big important holiday.
你是什麼意思？情人節並不是什麼了不起的重大節日。
Pam：Well – now there's your problem. It may not be a big deal to you, but I bet your wife feels differently.
嗯，那是你的問題。對你來說也許沒什麼大不了，但我敢說你太太並不這麼認為。
Jim：Oh, come off it!
噢，不要瞎說！
Pam：I'm serious! My husband treats me like a queen on Valentine's Day! First he makes me breakfast in bed. Then he devotes the whole day to catering to my every whim and desire.
我是認真的！我老公在情人節時總是對我像女王一樣！首先，我還沒起床他就為我做好早餐。然後他一整天都會迎合我每一個突發奇想和要求。
Jim：And does it work? Is the spark still there in your marriage?
這樣有用嗎？你的婚姻裡仍存在著火花嗎？
Pam：Of course! We're madly in love.
當然！我們瘋狂地愛著彼此。
Jim：So if I do some nice things for my wife this Valentine's Day, are you saying it might revitalize my marriage?
所以如果我在這次情人節為我太太做些好事，你認為這樣可以再度活化我的婚姻嗎？
Pam：Well, it takes more than that. Gifts on Valentine's Day are a just manifestation of the love we feel for each other. There are 365 days in the year, and you can't just be sweet for one of them. But this would be a good start.
嗯，不只如此。情人節的禮物只是表現彼此愛的感覺。一年有 365 天，你不能僅是在其中的一天讓人喜愛。但這會是一個好的開始。
Jim：I think you're right! This Valentine's Day, I'm going to shower my wife with gifts and affection, to show her that I really love her!
我想你是對的！這個情人節，我將用禮物和愛意包圍我的妻子，向她表示我真的很愛她！
"Dialogue 2" 相關實用句型：3.That looks to me like a ticket for a night sleeping by yourself on the couch!
（我認為那像是讓你自己整晚睡沙發的一張票。）
通常我們用 "It / That looks like..." 表示「某件事看來...」，也可以在 look 與 like 之間加入 "to sb."，表示某人的看法或意見。
"a night sleeping by oneself" 表示「夜晚獨眠」。例如：
The disappointed in a love affair are usually afraid of a night sleeping by themselves.
失戀者通常會害怕夜晚獨眠。4 He devotes the whole day to catering to my every whim and desire.
（他一整天都會迎合我每一個突發奇想和要求。）
動詞 devote 可以用 dedicate 取代，"sb. be dedicated / devoted to sth." 表示「某人對某事相當執著。」而 "sb. dedicate / devote sth. to sth. else" 表示「將... 奉獻給...」。
cater 為不及物動詞，當其與 to 連用，"cater to sb." 表示「迎合╱滿足某人的需求」。 | | |
