【入門對話 Dialogue 1】An Uncomfortable Honeymoon（令人不安的蜜月假期）
Sam and Helen are on their honeymoon. Sam is stressed about all the work he is missing.
Sam 和 Helen 正在度蜜月，但 Sam 對於他無法進行的工作倍感壓力。
Helen：So – are you ready to head for the beach?
那麼，你準備好要去海灘了嗎？
Sam：Just a sec sweetheart, I need to call the office first to check in.
等一下就好，甜心，我需要先打電話到公司報到。
Helen：Again? But you just called 20 minutes ago!
又來了？但你 20 分鐘前才打過耶！
Sam：Come on! I'm their boss. They look to me for leadership, and I have to make sure that everything is under control.
拜託！我是他們的上司。他們仰賴我的領導，並且我必須確認一切都在掌控中才行。
Helen：Give me a break! This is our honeymoon! This is supposed to be our special time together and all you seem to care about is work.
饒了我吧！這是我們的蜜月旅行！這應該是我們在一起的特別時刻，而你似乎只是關心工作。
Sam：Now that's not fair! You know you're my number-one priority.
這樣說就不公平了！你知道你是我的第一順位呀。
Helen：Please! You know you left dinner four times last night to call the office. I think I spent more time talking to the waiter than to you.
拜託！你知道你昨晚吃飯時離開座位去打電話給公司就有四次嗎？我想我與侍者聊天的時間比跟你還多。
Sam：Four times? Well, maybe you're right. From now on I'll try to take it easier. I'll forget about work and focus on having fun with you. Ummmm…. Right after I make this one last call!
四次？好吧，或許你是對的。從現在起，我會試著放輕鬆點。我會把工作忘掉，並把焦點放在與你共度上。嗯...現在我再打最後一通電話！
| "Dialogue 1" 相關實用句型： | 1.I need to call the office first to check in.
（我需要先打電話到公司報到。）
「打電話」（call）後面的受詞通常為「人」，如「報警」是 "call the police"、「待會兒打給你」是 "call you later"；不過這裡的 "call the office" 是指「打到公司」的意思。
動詞片語 "check in" 通常指到達機場、旅館等地的「登記」或「報到」，在此意指「打電話進公司報到」。
2.I have to make sure that everything is under control.
（我必須確認一切都在掌控中才行。）
"make sure"（確定╱確認...）後面可以接 that 子句 作為受詞。
"be under control" 表示「在掌控中」。

Harry and Sally are on their honeymoon. They have very different personalities.
Harry 和 Sally 正在度蜜月。他們的個性極為不同。
Sally：Come on honey – up and at'em!
甜心，起床了！
Harry：Ughhhhh…. What time is it?
嗄... 現在幾點了？
Sally：5 am! I want to go down to the beach to watch the sunrise!
清晨 5 點！我想下去海灘看日出！
Harry：Are you crazy? It's way too early. Let's sleep in today.
你瘋了嗎？太早了吧！我們今天在這睡覺吧。
Sally：But we can sleep any time!
但我們任何時侯都可以睡呀！
Harry：Maybe YOU can sleep any time, but my job demands that I wake up early every day. This is the first holiday I've had for ages, and I need to catch up on my sleep.
也許你任何時侯都可以睡，但我的工作需要我每天早起。這是我長久以來的第一個假期，我需要補眠。
Sally：You're no fun! What's the point of coming all the way to Hawaii if all you want to do is stay in the hotel room? You slept almost all day yesterday too!
你真是沒意思！如果你只是想待在旅館房間，那麼你來夏威夷的目的是什麼？你昨天也幾乎睡了一天了！
Harry：Well, I was jet-lagged. Besides, it seemed like you had fun by yourself.

Sally：That's not the point. We came here to spend time together. I want to do things with you.

Harry：Ok, I guess I'm being selfish. The sunrise is supposed to be beautiful. So just let me sleep for a few more hours and then we'll go see it.
好吧，我想我太自私了。日出應該是很美的。那麼請讓我多睡幾個小時，我們再一起去看吧。
Sally：But then it will be too late! Come on, we have to see it now!
但那太晚了！起來吧，我們必須現在就去看！
Harry：Ohh... can't we just watch the sunset instead. I'm sure it'll be just as pretty!
嗯，我們能不能改看日落呢？我確定日落一樣很美的！
Sally：If you love me, you'll get up and come with me right now.

Harry：Ok! But only because I love you.

| "Dialogue 2" 相關實用句型： | 3.This is the first holiday I've had for ages, and I need to catch up on my sleep.
（這是我長久以來的第一個假期，我需要補眠。）
句中的 "for ages" 表示「長久以來」，等於 "for a long time"，常與完成式連用。例如，"We haven't seen each other for ages."（我們已經許久沒見面。）
"catch up on" 有「趕完」或「彌補」的意思，而 "catch up on one's sleep" 即是指「補眠」。 | 4.We came here to spend time together.
（我們來這裡是要一起度過的。）
「與某人一起度過」可以用 "spend time together with sb."，須注意動詞 spend 之前的主詞必須為「人」；而同樣表「花時間」的動詞 take，其前的主詞須為「事物」。例如，It takes time to hand-write a letter.（用手寫一封信很花時間。） | | | ▲TOP |
