來到了這個美國大學城裡，發現年輕人講的美語跟國中時唸過的老年人編的英語課本果然不太一樣，原來大家喜歡用一些意思有點奇怪的字。首先chill這個字會很常出現，原本的意思是「冷酷」，在口語中轉化成「冷靜」，意思等於Relax. 或Calm down.

Dad: It's all about time management. You've never had to do that.
Kara: I'll learn, Dad. Just 2)chill out. I'm so not going to miss home! This rocks.
Dad: Watch it. You're talking to a parent who has to face an empty nest next week. This is going to be hard on me.
Kara: I know. I'll come home to visit. I'm sorry, Dad. Here we are – the Greenlee dorm!

卡拉：老爸，我好興奮喔！我喜歡這個校園！你看那些棕櫚樹。
老爸：很棒，但別忘了，妳必須專心唸書，而不是到處玩。
卡拉：我知道，我知道。念大學比高中難。這話你跟我說過一百萬次了。
老爸：時間管理最重要。妳以前根本不必煩惱這件事。
卡拉：我會學習的。爹，放輕鬆啦。我不會想家的！這裡太棒了。
老爸：當心點。妳是在跟一個從下週起必須面對空蕩蕩屋子的父親說話。我會很難熬。
卡拉：我知道啦。我會回家看你的。對不起啦，爹地。我們到了──綠地宿舍！ | |
