Responsibilities and Privileges Owning a business is a big responsibility. In America, business owners have to meet rigid safety standards. Even then, they face the risk of litigation if somebody gets hurt on the job. In addition, many companies have to deal with labor unions. Besides that, managers have to satisfy affirmative action laws, which require them to hire a certain number of minorities. Now many of these issues pertain more to big companies than to small businesses.
