A new Japanese camera can detect when people are smiling. It will be able to help people who usually look sad in photos.
Sony Corp. said on Sep. 5 that it will begin sales this month of the "Cyber-shot T" cameras. The cameras are able to detect a smile and immediately drop the shutter.
People can set the camera to detect which type of facial expression to look for. It will be able to recognize small smiles, big grins and many other expressions.
But the camera can do more than just take pictures of happy moments. It can be used as a normal camera, too.
Similar cameras are made by other Japanese companies, including Olympus. But each company develops the technology on their own.
Sony's DSC-T200 and DSC-T70 will begin to be sold on Sep. 21. They'll have a starting price of US$345 (NT$11, 400).(Staff Writer, with AFP)
日本一款新式照相機具備「笑容偵測」功能。對於照相總是看來不太開心的人來說，這個新的技術應該會有所幫助。
新力索尼公司在九月五日表示，本月將開始販售這款「Cyber-shot T」系列數位相機。這款相機可在偵測到笑容後瞬間按下快門。
使用者能夠設定相機偵測特定的臉部表情。這種偵測技術可以辨別抿唇淺笑、露齒大笑，以及其他各種表情。
然而，這款相機不僅能拍下歡笑時刻，它也可當作一台正常相機使用。
日本其他相機廠商也推出類似款式的相機，包括奧林巴斯。然而，各廠皆是獨立發展出這項技術的。
